Where It All Began
The Irish Caravan and Camping Council began life in 1960, and became a limited company in 1969. Its constitution and framework was based on that of the UK-based National Caravan Council. Initially it stemmed from likeminded people in the manufacturing industry seeking to promote and protect the interests of their businesses and their industry. Major Harry Ffrench was the first Chairman in 1960. In 1994 it registered under the Irish Co-operative Society Limited (ICOS) as The Caravan Camping and Mobile Home Society under the chair of Tom Horgan. The Council has gone from strength to strength over the past 60 years and has evolved into one of the leading tourism representative bodies in Ireland. Whilst the workings of the organisation has changed over the years the ethos still remains – to represent and promote the caravan & camping industry in Ireland.
